What specific transition planning do you offer for military families?

Tyndall Academy has an established Anchored for Life program for all grade levels. We also utilize our Professional School Counselors, and Military Family Life Counselors to assist with transitioning, planning and support for incoming and outgoing military students and their families. We have a solid partnership with our SLO and EFMP.

What specific academic planning do you offer for military families?

Parent conferences, IEP/504 meetings, etc. are held regularly with parents prior to or upon arrival to ensure that students are being placed in appropriate schedules, classes, or any specialized programs. Our Tyndall Team reviews transcripts, student performance data, IEP/504/MTSS/ELL plans to guarantee teachers' are prepared to support incoming students.

 

What resources and educational opportunities do you offer for military children?

Tyndall Academy provides high quality educational opportunities for all learners. We serve students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. We also have specialized Autism classrooms that can serve students in grades PreK-5th. We have an after school STEM program for students in grades 3rd-5th. We also have elective technology classes in which students can earn CTE credits. Our elementary school provides Music, PE and Art as our Special Area classes. We have a 5th grade choir and a middle school chorus and band. We also offer a variety of clubs and have started our first year with Athletics.

Tell us about your student-led transition team

Anchored for Life is our student led program that welcomes new students as they transition onto our campus. Students form peer-to-peer friendships, take students and families on a tour of the school and offer immediate support.

What supports do you offer for military ESE children?

We stay in close communication with our EFMP. We collaborate to review IEPs/504 plans in advance to better prepare for incoming students' arrival. If possible, we meet virtually or in person with students and families and give them a tour of the school and allow them to meet teachers and support staff that will be working directly with their students. We also review any related services, outside services, etc. that we can keep consistent here at our school.

What military recognition events do you have planned?

We will have a Veteran's Day Flagpole Ceremony. Our A4L and middle school Student Council will be coordinating a card project to send thank you cards and notes to veterans at SIMS nursing home. We will also have a Purple Up Day event during the day for our students and a family night event.

How do military children access mental health services on your campus?

We utilize our district Community of Care system, as well as our Military Family Life Counselors.
